National Ag Week
As we celebrate National Agriculture Week from March 21-27, it’s important to recognize the invaluable contributions of those in the agriculture industry. The week is a time to appreciate the hard work and dedication of farmers, ranchers, farmworkers, processing plant workers, truckers, locomotive operators, researchers, and everyone in between. It’s also an opportunity to educate the public about the importance of agriculture and its significance in our daily lives.

More than farming
The agriculture industry is a complex and multifaceted field that encompasses a vast array of professions, all of which are critical to the success and growth of the industry as a whole. Engineers, for example, play a crucial role in developing and improving the technology and equipment used in agriculture, from sophisticated irrigation systems to advanced machinery for planting, harvesting and processing crops. Meanwhile, computer specialists use their expertise to develop innovative software and data management tools that help farmers and agribusinesses make more informed decisions and optimize their operations. Marketers, on the other hand, help to promote and sell agricultural products to consumers, while animal scientists are responsible for ensuring the health and wellbeing of livestock and developing new techniques for improving animal husbandry practices. In short, the agriculture industry offers an incredibly diverse range of opportunities for professionals across a wide range of disciplines, making it an exciting and rewarding field for anyone looking to make a meaningful impact on the world.
Today we also salute the Future Farmers of America (FFA)
The Future Farmers of America (FFA) is a national organization that provides opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills, explore career opportunities, and promote the importance of agriculture. Founded in 1928, the FFA has grown to become one of the largest youth organizations in the United States, with over 700,000 members in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Through hands-on experiences and competitions, FFA members gain valuable knowledge in areas such as agronomy, animal science, public speaking, and entrepreneurship. In addition to promoting agriculture, the FFA emphasizes the development of personal growth, civic responsibility, and character, creating well-rounded individuals who are prepared to succeed in any field they choose to pursue. The FFA’s commitment to building the next generation of leaders in agriculture and beyond is truly admirable, and their impact on young people across the country is immeasurable.
Thank you!
So this National Agriculture Week, let’s take a moment to appreciate the hard work and dedication of those in the agriculture industry, and to educate others about its importance. Let’s also remember that there’s a place for everyone in the industry, and that agriculture is about far more than farming.
